Radiant Floor Heat Systems

You may be wondering what radiant floor heat systems are and why you might want one. That is quite understandable as these type of floor heating systems are not widely known.

To begin with, radiant floor heat systems are a type of heating system that is installed into the floor of your home, office, garage, or other space where you would like to not only have your floor heated but to save money on heating costs as well.

You may wonder why anyone would want there floor heated and how this can save you money. Again, very understandable. To answer the first question, if you have never walked on a floor that has a radiant floor heat system installed then you don't know what you are missing. It is quite the pleasure to feel the heat coming up through the floor and warming your feet.

Not only is it enjoyable, but when installed somewhere such as a garage or shop where you typically have a concrete floor, radiant floor heat systems can actually help with stiff joints and the aches and pains that can be associated with working on a concrete floor.

And now to question number two, how can radiant floor heating systems help save you money on heating costs.

With radiant floor heating systems, you have heat that is coming from the floor, as we all know, heat rises. This means that the heating source is at the lowest possible point and all that heat is going to warm the entire space. This for one should help lower your standard heating costs allowing you to save money each month.

One of the great things about this type of heating system is that it can be very inexpensive to operate. With a radiant floor heating system, plastic tubing is ran thought the floor, before the concrete slab is poured, or in the case of a home built on a foundation, the tubes will be ran through the underside floor boards.

These tubes are connected to a manifold where, in most cases, oil is heated and then recirculated through the entire system. One good thing about radiant floor heating systems is that the oil you use in the system can usually be used oil, saving you some expense with the initial cost.
